Who is Somizi?

Somizi Buyani Mhlongo was born in Soweto in 1972 by now late  actress Mary Twala and actor/Comedian Ndaba Mhlongo. Somizi was into the Mzansi show biz and also created a career of his own. His star started rising from an early age. Somizi Mhlongo has been in the entertainment business for more than 30 years now. He started his career as a teen, he was only 13 years old when 1st appeared on a film called Scavengers. Somizi has since added, presenting, Choreography, radio and singing into his acting resume.

Growing Up

Somizi was raised by both parents who were in the entertainment industry and they say, “The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree”. Somizi kicked off his acting career very early in his teen. He 1st appeared in a film called Scavengers at a tender age of 13 years old. he got his 1st big break when he appeared in a musical and political film sarafina. Somizi travelled the world with the production for 5 years and this where he got his 1st break through for his career in choreography.

His Rise To Fame

After appearing on Scavengers and starring on Sarafina of which he also choreographed, Somizi later went on to appear on various films including cry, The beloved Country. Mr Mhlongo had a stint in music collaborating with houshold industry producer heavy K. Somizi also made numerious appearances on various tv shows which helped build a solid brand. He’s currently a presenter on Idols(From 2015) & V Entertainment(from 2016). Somizi also has his own reality show on Mzansi magic, Living a dream with Somizi.
