Who is Pearl Thusi?

Pearl Thusi is a South African Television host , actress , radio personality , model and business woman. Born in 1988 in the township of Kwandengezi in the Kwazulu natal province. Her full birth name is Sithembile Xola Pearl Thusi .

Her Studies and Modelling career

After matriculating, Pearl went to Johannesburg to further her studies at Wits University . While studying , she was busy with modelling and acting career on the side.

She started modelling when she was a teenager and has participated in several pageants growing up. Pearl won Miss KwaZulu-Natal in 2005 and she was crowned the runner-up at the Miss SA Teen in 2003. Thusi rose to fame as a presenter on SABC 3 ’s I Crew in 2006.

Her Acting Career

Pearl Thusi is also a talented actress and has starred in several local and international films. She has featured in movies such as Scorpion King: Book of Souls. Thusi was also on the local movie ‘ Catching Feelings’ with Kagiso Lediga and the romantic comedy was streamed on Netflix.  Other features by Pearl , include Kalushi and Tremors 5: Bloodlines.  She has also appeared on TV shows such as Rhythm City, Zone 14, Soul City and Isidingo.

The star also got one of her biggest TV roles in 2016 when she was cast in an American TV series, Quantico. Pearl played the role of Dayana Mampasi, a Harvard Law School graduate from Zimbabwea .

Thusi has also successfully hosted a number of television shows such as Lip Sync Battle Africa on MTV, BET Africa’s Behind the Story, SABC 1’s LIVE Amp and the Comedy Central Roast of AKA. Pearl made history when she starred in the netflix original series ‘Queen Sono ‘. This was the streaming company’s first-ever African original series. She also partnered with WWF South Africa in 2019 to help protect South Africa’s wildlife.
