Who is Encore ?

Encore is an Afro-pop band and consists of 3 members namely: Keabetwe Kototsi, Kabelo Thomane and Peter Letsaolo. This trio is re-inventing Soulful African ballads with their harmonies.

Keabetwe , Kabelo and Peter who hail from different parts of South Africa respectively Polokwane, Kagiso in Johannesburg, and Rustenburg in North West. Music is what brought them together .

How They Met

The trio met in tertiary when they were all studying Music at the South African State Theatre in Tshwane in 2009. and they immediately had a pure and natural connection and they eventually decide to form a band.

Releasing their Debut single

Although the members of Encore all had their own tastes in music. they were able to create a master piece in their hit single, Ke Fela Pelo . The single paved way for them and set their career on the path for success.

Signing to Onpoint Records

Soon after they released their first single , Their music caught the ears of mafikizolo ‘s manager, Modise Kgomo . Modise is the owner of On Point Records. He saw a lot of potential in them and immediately took them under his wing.

Their Debut Album ‘Encore’

They later released their debut self-titled album Encore. the album was produced by the likes of Mdu Mtshali, Mondli Ngcobo, Theo Kgonsinkwe and  Godfrey “Guffy” Pilane. They also featured the legendary Tshepo Tshola on one of the songs in the album.

“We took a risk singing in Setswana but after seeing the positive reaction we have gained confidence and have no doubt that we are on the right path,” said Kabelo.

Keabetswe explained that their songs always strike a chord with music lovers. “We never thought we would see people cry over our music, but we have seen it. People lose it and even ask us to perform Ke Fela Pelo for up to four times.”
